What Is COMOM?

The Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, high-quality dental care to individuals in need across Colorado. Each year, COMOM holds a large-scale, two-day dental clinic in a different Colorado community. This clinic is the cornerstone of COMOM’s work and reflects its mission to improve oral health and overall well-being for underserved populations.

COMOM’s clinics are open to anyone in need. Since its inception in 2007, COMOM has served more than 21,000 patients and provided over $19,000,000 in donated dental services.

Held in a large venue, such as a school or event center, the clinic is transformed into a fully functional, 125-chair dental facility. Over two days, patients receive cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, dentures, and ceramic crowns—all at no cost.
This tremendous effort is made possible by an outpouring of support from nearly 200 volunteer dentists, along with dental hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, healthcare professionals, and hundreds of lay volunteers. COMOM also partners with community organizations and local agencies to expand its impact.

COMOM is a careful steward of financial and in-kind contributions and relies entirely on the generosity of donors and volunteers. In addition to providing relief from dental pain, COMOM helps restore patients’oral health and appearance—improving self-esteem and expanding employment opportunities.

COMOM makes a lasting difference in the lives of Coloradans—one smile at a time.

Why does Colorado need COMOM?

Individuals across the state are in need of dental care. They are in pain, frustrated, without answers, and they hope that someone will be able to help them.

Several outstanding dental organizations offer nearly free dental services for children, for the elderly, for people with disabilities, for the homeless, and for people living with HIV/AIDS. Often adults who don’t fit into these categories, who are without insurance, and who cannot afford dental treatment – are without dental resources.

COMOM has provided a way to help this situation.

While professionals on many fronts are working to establish long-term solutions to the problem of access-to-care, the remedies, in some cases, are years away. COMOM helps to fill the gap as long-term solutions are being developed and implemented.

Our Mission

COMOM’s mission is to provide quality dental services, at no cost, to individuals of all ages who cannot afford and access dental care; eliminating dental pain, promoting oral health, creating smiles, and providing oral health education.
